Position Summary:
The Fundraising Lead is responsible for leading and directing the fundraising efforts of the organization. This will require coordinating the efforts of the fundraising team to ensure that CEN is successful at securing the financial resources from individuals and corporations as needed to carry out its mission. CEN's fundraising strategy includes a mix of the following elements:
- Acquire - introduce new potential individual and corporate supporters to the organization
- Cultivate them - engage and develop a strong connection with our mission
- Ask - solicit donations from individuals and corporations who have been cultivated
- Other fundraising - other fundraising and revenue generating efforts, such as events and benefits, online sponsorships, etc.
The fundraising team is not responsible for driving expenses. Approved activity travel is reimbursed through foundation grants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement overall individual fundraising objectives and priorities for the organization. (Another working group is responsible for grants)
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop a consistent message and communications strategy
- Work closely with Events Coordinator and marketing staff to develop event and other collateral
- Report to the Board on the progress of overall individual fundraising objectives
- Develop and maintain a strong fundraising team
Our current fundraising plan contains the following elements:
- Annual Fundraiser – (the Fundraising Lead will manage the Events Coordinator, who will have primary responsibility for management of the event)
- Periodic mailing campaigns
- On-line fundraising sources (eBay, Amazon affiliate program, Charity Malls)
- Active participation in networking events
- Management of matching gift programs
- Possible on-line/virtual fundraising event
- Possible creation of a major donor program
- Possible building of virtual satellite offices in a couple of cities worldwide that will develop local fundraising expertise
KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Needed:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a variety of fundraising activities (particularly in some or many of the above activities)
- Creativity
- Strong collaboration skills
- Experience with team management, preferred
You must be able to commit to a minimum average of 10 hours a month. This is a "virtual" team opportunity which you may perform from your home or other location; however we would like for you to be located in the Puget Sound, WA region.
Community Empowerment Network's (CEN's) operations are nearly entirely driven by the efforts of volunteers (the only exception is our Field Manager in Santarém, Brazil, who is paid under contract). We are a small organization and lines of responsibility sometimes overlap, but this provides a terrific opportunity for volunteers to take on a variety of responsibilities and expand their skills.
