Local Events Team Member (Seattle or Bellingham, WA)

Time Commitment: Minimum of 10 hours per month
Compensation: Volunteer

Position Summary:

The events team is responsible for organizing and putting on fundraising and other events in the Seattle or Bellingham area. Some events we're planning on holding during 2012 include:

  • Small-scale fundraising events
  • Participation in the Seattle Rock & Roll Marathon
  • Art sale
  • And we're looking for more ideas!

We are looking for individuals who live in either the Seattle or Bellingham, WA area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help plan and execute CEN fundraising and entertainment events
  • Help come up with innovative and fun ideas for planning events
  • Work with the team to plan the events
  • Work logistics to successfully execute the event
  • Publicize event (hanging posters, distributing flyers)
  • Create and set up decorations
  • Help out during events
  • Work closely with fundraising lead and the rest of events team
  • Help support and lend expertise to other smaller volunteer-led fundraising activities, such as drink nights, and more

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Needed:

  • Creative, resourceful, responsible
  • Be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy interacting with people
  • Work well in team environment
  • Experience putting on events is desirable, but not strictly required
  • Reliable

You must be able to commit to a minimum average of 10 hours a month. This is a "virtual" team opportunity which may be performed from home or another location.

Community Empowerment Network's (CEN's) operations are nearly entirely driven by the efforts of volunteers (the only exception is our Field Manager in Santarém, Brazil, who is paid under contract). We are a small organization and so lines of responsibility sometimes overlap, but this provides a terrific opportunity for volunteers to take on a variety of responsibilities and to expand their skills.
