Currently, Sims is an active member of the Arkansas Democratic Party, serving as Chairman of the Minority Caucus of the Young Democrats of Arkansas as well as a member of the organization’s Executive Committee. Sims’ belief in the importance of economic empowerment and development are what led to him to apply to the board. Daniel Allen Sims is a graduate of Saint Louis University with a degree in Political Science, and brings a wealth of nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience to the CEN board. After graduating, Sims returned to his hometown Helena, Arkansas, where he served as Associate Director of the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival, one of the largest blues events in North America. While with the festival, Sims helped develop and enforce new fiscal policies for the organization, lead a record-breaking fundraising program, and reignite community interest and investment.
