Fundraising Team Member

Time Commitment: Min of 10 hours/mo 
Compensation: Volunteer

Position Summary:

The Fundraising Team is responsible for helping to organize and execute various fundraising efforts for the organization, and to ensure that CEN is successful at securing the financial resources from individuals and corporations needed to carry out its mission. CEN's fundraising strategy includes a mix of the following elements:

  • Acquire - introduce new potential individual and corporate supporters to the organization
  • Cultivate them - Engage and develop a strong connection with our mission
  • Ask - solicit donations from individuals and corporations who have been cultivated
  • Other fundraising - other fundraising and revenue generating efforts, such as events and benefits, online sponsorships, etc.

The fundraising team is not responsible for driving expenses. Approved activity travel is reimbursed through foundation grants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the organization's fundraising strategy
  • Implement the strategy, including, but not limited to executing community fundraising events
  • Work closely with marketing staff to develop marketing materials to support the fundraising efforts
  • Coordinate efforts with the other team members

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Needed:

  • Experience in organizing fundraising events
  • Creativity
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Commitment to seeing events through to completion

You must be able to commit to a minimum average of 10 hours a month. This is a "virtual" team opportunity which may be performed from home or another location.

Community Empowerment Network's (CEN's) operations are nearly entirely driven by the efforts of volunteers (the only exception is our Field Manager in Santarém, Brazil, who is paid under contract). We are a small organization and so lines of responsibility sometimes overlap, but this provides a terrific opportunity for volunteers to take on a variety of responsibilities and to expand their skills.
